In The Know Fashion, The Main Attraction

Friday

There are many designers and brands that catch my attention by their unconventional design aesthetic, classic detailing or even the tone of their creations exemplified on the runway. I may acquire a piece here and there, wear them regularly from my wardrobe, or add them to my wishful shopping cart.

Then, there are designers that create pieces that may not be my exact style, nonetheless still  inspiring me in an array of ways beyond a tangible perspective.
I usually know within moments of browsing a collection whether or not I will love a designer's body of work. To appreciate one's artistry you do not necessarily have to understand their inspiration behind a line at that given time. In fact, I find it best at first glance to look at art for what it is ... art!

Certainly, thoughts of cohesiveness may come into play, a point-of-view, or noteworthy techniques captured may aslo enter your mind as a natural fixative to an unexplained canvas. The dissection of the why, how, and who of influence is occasionally (not always) better left for your second viewing.

Here's some inspiring designers that are presently under my radar as what I'd like to call fashion-art influence, and the main attraction. Enjoy!

Jewellery
Pasionae creates apparel and accessories, but their jewellery was what caught my eye. They have unique handmade, made-to-order rings displaying bold and functional design indicative of human passions and art, which also bare the names of the jewellery, i.e., in the Murano collection there's rings called, Lust, Chlorea, and Delight. These are my favourites from their collection.

Design
I've been briefly following the progress of Nouio, the Taipei-based label that made fashion waves in 2011 and even more earlier this year. Technology and fashion clearly go hand in hand and has been the focus of Nouio's fashion line. You'll see quite easily how alluring the use of colour is done in brilliant 3D printed garments from the nature inspired collection.

Here's a visually playful video, showing Jacob Birge's fashion creations. It's captivating, artistic, and an intriguing glimpse of the designer's works.

"The collection reflects the conflict between deeply individual and personal human approach and cold, precise computer processes. To find a balance between those contradicted approaches, I have created mathematical equations, which generated sequences of variables."
