Black and Blue: Weekend Style

Monday

Have you ever had one of those days, where you did not want to put too much effort in anything because you were either too busy or felt lethargic? For me, this day was exactly that! There were plenty of things to accomplish on the list of tasks, and thankfully I did manage to check off a grand ninety percent of them. However, there were loads of other tasks being added throughout the day to complete.

This was an outfit that I wore for a casual outing; in my attempt to meet a friend for brunch and a bit of vintage shopping. Additionally, I also had to pick up some fabrics for a few projects, and for some reason a dress was the only thing that I wanted to wear. All-in-one comfort! But, the check-list pile wasn't entirely alarming, as we were able to treat ourselves later in the evening and partake in spa time.
I decided to play with the idea of my vintage slip as a dress (something that I've often done in the past), and pair it with my denim jacket. I absolutely wanted a no-fuss look, since I knew that I was going to essentially be running about town all day. It was such an easy to-go ensemble! A dash of mascara, and a favourite lip colour was all that I needed to complete the look.

Perhaps, you're like me and have a few weekend combinations that you continuously love to wear! What's your favourite weekend ensemble at the moment?

Fabulous! I've worn vintage slips as dresses at festivals but as mine are lace and see-through I probably would spare my fellow townsfolk flashing my pants on a normal occasion! You look stunning.

Gorgeous. I love wearing slips as dresses. Sometimes I get told I forgot my dress when I do, which makes me laugh, but it's just an easy option and they look so pretty with the lace trims. Beautiful. I hope you have a lovely week doll xx

  9. What I love about this outfit is that it's no-fuss, but it looked like you put thought into it...you know what I mean? That slip dress is rocking! When I put no thought into an outfit, people ask me why I would walk out in my house clothes....hehe.....

  10. I LOVE the idea of a slip as a dress! I've always thought they looked so pretty layered under stuff, and that black number is gorgeous!

  11. Hi Madison! I get you since I also have often those days! Maybe is the start of fall?:) Looking smashing, love the whole ensemble: casual but effortlessly chic!:) Have a great week ahead dear, kisses and hugs! xo

  12. It's a beautiful slip dress Madison. I love the lace details. I felt that way for 2 weeks. HaHa I had a growing list of things to do, but could only get the bare necessities done. Yesterday, I completed a majority of them which made me feel better. I hate when things pile up.

  16. I love the blue heels, I think I do have a couple of weekend outfits that I rely on when I'm feeling a bit lazy. Part of the problem is I actually have very little wardrobe space. This means I tend to just end up picking what I can see in front of me, not ideal and this is what a lot of people do that I actually warn against.

That's pretty classy for casual! Love how you've reworked the slip as dress - reminds me of the good old days of vintage slips as dresses back in the nineties.

I have days like that all the time. Sometimes all I want to do is dress up and other times that's the farthest thing from my mind. I think the lace works as a dress, especially with the denim jacket addition.

I absolutely love that outfit! denim, lace, those pretty shades of blue - such a stunning whole. plus those booties are the coolest!
my easiest go-to look usually includes a pair of jeans/pants, a top/tee and a sweater or cardi on top of it. that's during colder days of course. summer means dresses dresses dresses! ;)

  53. This sort of things happens to me far more often than I'd like to admit, Madison - but I think some of the best outfits come from that feeling of just wanting something that will feel good, I think it takes us back to the root of our style and what we really love in fashion. This outfit is so simple but so wonderfully elegant. The blue boots are a perfect touch!
