Harvest Party [DIY Carnival Party]

Wednesday

At-home entertaining has never been more needed than such a time as this. I hope this post makes you smile and perhaps even gives you inspiration for future parties, birthdays, and other occasions.

To celebrate the transition in seasonsI chose to create a vintage carnival party. It is all about the harvest season, and festive autumnal decorations can definitely translate well into this entertaining concept.

So, whether you have a family of two, four, or are just sitting at home alone, you can certainly join in on this celebration. I have always wanted to do a circus party or carnival themed celebration, and for reasons unknown, I have not explored that avenue much... at least, not full-on as I did here.

CARNIVAL PARTY

This was such an enormous undertaking, especially since I wanted to incorporate exciting elements of magic for the entire family to enjoy.

How does one create a family-friendly party for adults and youth? Sit tight, I’ve never steered you wrong and this time, I have definitely got you covered.

This post is visually packed with enough images to get you inspired for your next celebration, whether a birthday party or a game night with friends.

I invite you to find your inner child; take a respite from the stress of the world and embrace the seasonal change. Now, step into my harvest celebration.

Games and DIY Harvest Décor:

I thoroughly enjoyed crafting this theme together. There’s a bit of mystery and magical elements for a twist on a carnival for all to love. If you’re wondering what type of games to add, think about your guests (will there be children present, young adults, etc.) This party was geared toward youth and adults, sundry games for a wide range of ages were ideal. For a smaller party or small family, you can have one or two games to make it easier.

Let the Good Times Roll!

With a ticket roll of your own and proper vintage-style signage, you can really take this party to a higher calibre. To be honest, I believe this theme can be ageless only if you want it to be — there’s chock-full of areas of the home that I used to make it appealing.

If you have a smaller space and have family coming over, then simply make one room the main focal point of the party, then have certain corners of the room dazzled with decorations specific to a game theme of preference.

I used faux pumpkins in many ways. Firstly, I made these 3-D printed cut-outs of pumpkins the primary focus for the harvest areas of the party décor. I used burlap table runners to create an exciting scene for the harvest party. Hay stacks and autumnal decorations of gourds, ceramic pumpkins and carnival photo props were used to adorn the ground area of the display. It’s such an easy way to elevate the entire ambiance.

From Concept to Carnival

Carnival Meets Circus? Right, let’s have a think about that. It’s absolutely okay to mix different elements with the actual theme. I went for a more carnival-esque aesthetic because of the diversity of what could accompany each item. Popcorn displays with spicy savoury popcorn and cotton candy (I rolled up card stock to create the cones for the candy).

Don’t laugh, I’ve never had cotton candy before so a little research went into that bit; this particular bag apparently wasn’t as authentic as normal cotton candy, so I ended up having to reshape it entirely. It was a battle of sugar strands. I had another project that I used it for so the timing was favourable.

Thanks very much for your support, there is a great of work that goes into these posts and I just want to say how thankful I am that you appreciate them.
