Holiday Entertaining & Prep Guide

Holiday Gift Guide

The Advent season is a wonderful time of year filled with cooking, baking, and for some of us entertaining. Make entertaining easy this year with the right tools,
cookware, and a good attitude! Nowadays, you really needn’t be a seasoned chef or expert to find amazing pieces or industry deals for entertaining, but it does help if you know where to look.

It’s been a long, busy, and interesting year for me, and last month my grandfather passed away. But I wanted to share some fun and delicious treats with a wee bit of nostalgia. I was able to bake loads for friends and loved ones recently for a holiday party. Also, for Hanukkah, I made these sufganiyot-inspired biscuits, butternut squash pastries, herbal mocktails on repeat, and a little gingerbread village. Let’s not forget tarts! When it comes to a good ol’ pastry, I love a savoury one and this cheese and onion tart is one for the win! Get the recipe here.

I have curated a wonderful list of options for you, including self-care elements and entertaining pieces suitable to create a holiday tablescape, cook a feast for a crowd, or host your very first holiday party (or three). These are affordable options as well as a few splurges that are worthy investments.

For any baker on your list, The Emile Henry mini baguette bread baker is one to have in your arsenal. Baking bread (French bread, that is) has never been so easy for the budding baker. Even if you’re a seasoned baker, this baguette bread Baker by Emile Henry is simple to use and comes out perfect every time. View the options here.

I made lunch for friends in town, a brie, bacon, and apple sandwich on freshly baked mini baguettes. I wrapped them in baking paper and played French tunes in the background, and my friends were whisked away to a Parisian afternoon.

The Emile Henry mini bread baker is featured here in Burgundy. You can buy it here.

These Silpat non-stick mats for baking are also a great option. It allows you to use less oil, butter, and flour. The best part is that you can use these up to a few thousand times! That’s definitely worth it!

If there’s an avid mocktail or cocktail lover, then you will love this apéritif. You will hardly believe it’s non-alcoholic which will suit everyone at the dinner parties you’re attending. These glassware options are a great selection of glassware with both modern and retro styles.

For sustainable foodies, Riverford Organic Farmers box has amazing slow-grown fresh seasonal veg boxes (their boxes are made from 98% recycled materials and 100% recyclable), or try Ocean Box, a fresh seafood (sustainably sourced) home delivery service.

For wellness seekers, astrology lovers, or planner enthusiasts, this Blooms & Beams journal is a great starter journal for jotting entries down and inspiring your day, or you can use this Magic of I. agenda planner with the moon calendar phases and more! I have mine in black!

Cook in style with versatile and functional cookware by Emile Henry and Our Place. Before I tried the Always Pan I thought it was just hype, but lately, for one-pan meals that are quick to make, I use this quite frequently. It’s also on a massive discount right now! The Emile Henry baguette baker, whether you want the mini or bake a full-size baguette makes a great gift for you or anyone on your list any time of the year! The French clay and ceramic-made style is a good conductor of heat and bakes wonderfully.

How are you celebrating the festive season?  Are you planning to travel for the holidays?
