Hello fashionistas, I hope that you had a wonderful week. I
have been having slight internet woes, and I am slowly catching up with e-mails
and posts pretty much all weekend. Did you go shopping and grab any holiday deals yet? I
managed to get the bulk of my shopping done online earlier this past week, but still have a portion left to do.
Over the past month, I have attempted to go through some old clothing and shoes for donating. Finally, the task has been completed, however some pieces needed to be kept of course, because there are many items that are just classic.

Over the past month, I have attempted to go through some old clothing and shoes for donating. Finally, the task has been completed, however some pieces needed to be kept of course, because there are many items that are just classic.

During the exercise of my vogue perusing moments I came
across one of my favourite tweed hats—it’s a menswear Kangol hat that I haven’t
worn in some time. I’ve always adored tweed and textures in general, so it was the
perfect reason for me to also bring out my matching skirt that I designed years
ago. It’s such a simple skirt that has been through countless moves, fashion shoots, shows, and meetings. It’s significant to me because it’s one of my first skirts
that I made in design school, so how could I get rid of it?
As for the outfit, I wore this to an after-work dinner. I
imagine, the best way to brave the cold climate in style (if possible) for me
is to bring out the leather gloves, tweed, and vintage fur. Yes, these
elements speak to me, but it's even better with bits of luster from a patent piece
or two thrown into the fashion concoction.
So tell me, how do you kick it up a notch when it’s a bitter chill outside?

The goods: Fur-Vintage, Tweed hat-Kangol, Blazer-Oscar de la Renta, Pencil skirt-Ladyofashion
design, Cardigan-Gudrun Sjoden, Leather gloves-Sigerson Morrison, Patent
belt-Zara, Tights-Capezio New York, Boots-Diba.

Talk about classic. You're stunning in that outfit, you look like you should be in a movie. What a beautiful and versatile skirt design. You did a great job. I've tried designing and sewing my own skirts before and I know that (at least for me) it's harder than it looks. Enjoy the rest of your weekend :D

ReplyDeleteTweed is one of my weaknesses, so this look is killing me. Love it. You remind me a bit of Lauren Bacall in 'To Have and Have Not' in this outfit - so elegant!

This is a really elegant outfit, love the hat! You are lucky to have a winter weather that lets you to dress you in style, over here a space suit would be useful with all the snow and wind.

ReplyDeleteYou have a distinctive style that carries itself through from outfit to outfit. I respect that. You express your individuality in a way that's instantly recognizable. And you put together clothes with skill.
ReplyDeleteReading your blog is like taking a fashion class that doubles as a lesson in self-expression. Where do I send my tuition??
You look so pretty and lady like and I love the grey too especially with your hat. I actually didn't do any shopping this weekend, but I'm going to have to catch up soon!

It's a lovely classic vintage look and I agree with you, how could you get rid of one of the first skirts you made. The gloves just add to your ladylike outfit. I've just donated clothes and my wardrobe is much neater now!

I just voted for knitted turtlenecks.
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing!

Well that outfit looks fabulous on you Madison. Glad you had a great time at the party. You looked great! I like the way you incorporate new things with older items. I like to do the same thing. Some things are just classic and withstand the test of time. They look good season to season. It's definitely the smart way to shop. Internet issues are always the worse.

Wow! Looking so very lovely + elegant! I adore this chic ensemble--head to toe! T. http://tickledpinkwoman.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteThere is something slightly Gatsby-esque about this outfit that I just love, Madison - maybe it's the slight cloche shape of your hat, but the first thing I thought of when the page loaded was that I could pictures Zelda Fitzgerald wearing this same outfit in the winter. And I mean that as the highest compliment :)
