Often
because of our demanding schedules, seasonal priorities, or commitments
it’s easy to get caught up in those busy calendar days. But, what I always try
to appreciate is the art of spontaneity. Sometimes, being
spontaneous can lead to a fun and new perspective. I know that for me, it has allowed
me to cherish life in ways that were once unimaginable. There's a certain confidence that goes with it!
We decided
to do a last minute semi-weekend getaway a couple weeks ago, and my first
thought was, “what am I going to wear?” Literally, as I got out of a
meeting I made mental notes of versatile outfits from my wardrobe, all pieces that I
could quickly stash in a weekender tote.
Fortunately,
the “I have nothing to wear” syndrome doesn't really go too long for me, as I
actually know in detail what is in my wardrobe and wear pretty much everything
in my closets. Some of my favourites for packing in general, (aside from the obvious coat, lipstick, books, and boots) are maxi dresses, a
comfy tee, and jersey pieces, because they are particularly perfect to fit in a small suitcase. I also made a few wardrobe pulls for layering.
To celebrate being spontaneous, I have made several style options to help you prepare for your impromptu winter getaway. Whether it be a destination full of sunshine or merely a wine tasting overnight stay, there’s plenty to be inspired by for a quick change and still maintain that stylish factor.

1-A comfortable pair of jeans (Kiind of), 2-LBD, a black versatile style DailyLook, 3-A maxi dress or jersey knit dress for day or night (Buy it here), 4-A playful skirt (BCBG), 5-A basic oversize Tee or fitted Tee (Leith).
Have you made a spur-of-the-moment trip recently?
These are wonderful. I do love spontaneous trips...would be great to have one just now actually :) Have a great week :) xx

I am so glad that you choose to live life practicing a more spontaneous approach. As you mentioned on your post, living this way allow us to experience great things and also encounter wonderful opportunities which is the way life actually works. To me, being spontaneous is to let go of the mind struggles and insecurities letting our instinct be the driving force. I am so happy you are able to live this way. Good for you! I love last minute getaways! They are always exciting and full of fun adventures. Everything you shared I love, especial that gorgeous red dress and the fringed skirt. Thanks so much for sharing! XOXO, Jeannette

Spontaneous anything (let alone getaways) are a thing of a past for me, unfortunately because of the little one.
ReplyDeleteHope you had an awesome getaway! :) I always overpack so I have struggle with trips that aren't planned in advance. On the other hand, as soon as I start thinking of a trip I start thinking of the wardrobe so that contributes to wanting to pack too much, as I have too much time to come up with "what if' possibilities that mean I pack very specific pieces that never get worn haha!

oh I agree. Being spontaneous is wonderful but not always. For me it's more like - plan 3 times and then be spontaneous once.
ReplyDeleteAlso I loved the ootds you've created.
