Vanity + Vintage #05

Wednesday

This week's Vanity + Vintage is brought to you by the inspiring ways of wearing simple vintage, yet making it modernised. Meet the school plaided vest and black slip number!

A few of my favourite vintage (black)pieces are slips that I've collected over the years. I'm a huge fan of slips for various reasons; being fond of  layering them with separates, or even wearing one as a dress in some cases. Although, my mother may not think it to be proper attire worn solely as a dress, we do agree to disagree, and also accede that I am of an entirely different generation for function and style than she.

This particular slip below is actually the only vintage slip that I own which doesn't have allover lace on it, instead just a small piece at the top (and, you know how I adore lace)! However, this still holds a special place tucked away in my heart.  Hope that you enjoy my lovelies!

Don't worry, you're not suppose to iron it! This was once crushed silk!
I recall acquiring this all-in-one vest at a vintage shoppe somewhere in San Francisco, Calif., it's been so long ago, however I wanted to wear this because today reminded me of a back to school day. Sitting in a meeting, dictations/taking notes, reading new workbooks and thinking, "Man, I cannot wait until lunchtime." I also love wearing vests anyway!

So, what are you wearing today? Are you wearing something that you haven't worn in quite a while? Do tell!

  6. Your slip is beautiful! Slips do make for great layering, and yours is lovely on you as a dress.

  15. Do not fret, you will find one. There are so many ways to style it, with a belt with a sweater over, Tee, scarf, etc. I'm happy that this inspired you. & yes, my Mother is quite the proper woman... but that's also why I love her! Thanks! -xo

  25. What a pretty slip! It does look nice as a dress, but I think my mother would feel the same as yours. I love that vest in the second outfit. It's structured appearance is simply gorgeous.
