Summer Entertaining Style

Celebrating summer with refreshing mocktails and cocktails, dining alfresco, and entertaining loved ones! All of these things can set the right mood to delight in the joys of summertime. 

I’m celebrating summer by eating breakfasts outside and sipping on my favourite herbal elixirs and mocktails. I actually have one for you here! I made two delicious mocktails, and you can always add your favourite spirit to make it a cocktail if you prefer. The recipe below is similar to a Paloma with ginger and lemon balm, a great herbal addition that we talk about in my wellness series.

It’s a refreshing and relaxing mocktail that has plenty of gut health benefits, vitamins (C, B6, A), and anti-oxidants with ginger and spicy elements. The lemon balm reduces anxiety and ginger, it helps with indigestion and stomach pain. 

I used the Picardie tumblers from Duralex. The vibrant yellow colour was the main attraction for my outdoor setting, and this style comes in a vibrant colour selection as well.  

Spicy Mule 

Ingredients: 

Ice cubes 

2 oz. (60 ml) tequila alternative, or tequila Blanco 

4 oz. (120 ml) ginger kombucha or ginger beer 

½ oz. lime juice 

2 teaspoons lemon balm syrup (I made a homemade sugar-free version, but you can use simple syrup) 

lemon or Key lime wedges, to garnish 

Jalapeño, cut into slices, to garnish  

 

Method: 

In a rocks glass or Moscow mule, add ice cubes, then pour in the tequila alternative, kombucha, lime juice, and lemon balm syrup. Stir with a spoon to blend, then add lemon wedges, and jalapeños to garnish.
