A Sure Fit: Playfully Printed

Friday

I was killing time playing puzzle games with my friend’s son and then he mentioned to me that the outfit I was wearing was "just like a puzzle!" Children can be just the icebreaker to brighten your day. I also needed to have a laugh so it was worth every bit of a chuckling nod to the little one.

Although my playsuit was no actual puzzle, it did spark the puzzling notion of how we take separate fashioning elements—visually soothing pairings or unlikely contrasts—to fit into our daily styling. I know that from my own personal preferences regarding fashion it has surely changed over time. My influence has even shocked me a bit at times when I compare elements that I once adored in the past or supposedly would not wear—from softer more feminine colours in fabrics to metal hardware worn in daring accessories.

Aztec Tribal Fashion prints

Sure, maybe eight years or so ago, I would not have been ecstatic about acquiring a printed playsuit in earthy hues, but I am today! And, just like puzzle pieces need to be shifted and tried on for size until the fit is just right, my progressive style has been molded to my tastes year after year.

I have kept adored favourites, yet have also stepped into new fashion territory at times, challenging the rule book (whatever that is), and creating my own guide that suits me just fine. It doesn't mean that other pieces will not come out to play, nor does it mean that my style is completely one type of category.

Today, the missing puzzle piece was printed, and I found it in a playsuit!

Do your typical fashion pieces fit anymore? Have you been taking risks outside of your usual styling in recent years?

  1. Madison, I am loving the analogy. We put ourselves together each and everyday. The combinations and possibility is endless. Yes, my style has changed over the years. I'm really conservative nowawdays. I think I was much edgier when I was younger. HaHaHa But I'm truly liking more statement necklaces and such. I find that adding them to my outfits really gives it that extra punch. Love your outfit! The print is fabulous and your necklace is gorgeous. Have a great weekend doll.

You look so fabulous and chic! I've been on the hunt for the perfect playsuit for awhile cause I love how lengthening they can be. I think my style keeps evolving as well but stays consistent at the same time if that makes sense.

  7. How fabulous!  You look amazing.  My style is ever evolving and I've actually been taking quite a few risks outside my usual comfort zone as of late.  The biggest thing is wearing pants after hardly ever wearing them for years and year.

Have a wonderful weekend, sweetie! xoxo

I love your jumpsuit, the colors are great! Honestly I can't believe I wear skinny jeans--never in a million years would I have predicted that...but technology and stretch make all things possible :) Hope you have a great weekend Madison!

  10. I love your jumpsuit! I'm just starting to take more risks with my wardrobe, just baby steps really. Such as wearing more color instead of my staple black.

Oh I absolutely love this!  I wouldn't know where to start in trying to style a jumpsuit let alone a patterned one and eight years ago I too would have run for the hills screaming if someone suggested I wear one.  I've managed to push myself out of my comfort zone and wearing clashing florals so something like this would now not be far off in terms of a style challenge, so maybe just maybe...
Love the beads and black jacket. For such an out there zany piece you've made this jumpsuit part of a very slick, pulled together look!

You look great in this playsuit!  I haven't found the perfect one yet, but really love the look when done right.
